Project Relief

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale devastated Northern Pakistan on October the 8th 2005. This is the strongest earthquake in Pakistan's history, and has claimed an estimated 73,000 lives and destroyed 3.3 million homes.

We are asking for your support in rendering aid to the injured in the form of winter supplies, or financial donations. Volunteers are also welcome and should call (512)791-4406 or write to our email: contact@sustainablerelief.org

Goal:
To raise $70,000 for reconstruction work in Hung-ri, a remote village northwest of Balakot, sitting right on the Oct 8 earthquake epicenter:
A. Reconstruct 15 homes, from the ground up, with local and 'muled in' supplies. (15 x $3200 home reconstruction: $47,000)
B. Reconstruct primary/secondary school for the children of Hung-ri. ($18,500)
C. Rehabiliate and nurture the local farming industry. ($4500 to purchase tools and seeds)

At present, aid has been focused on cities such as Abottabad, Balakot, Ghari, Mansera, Habibullah Khan, Batgram , and other townships on the edges of Muzaffarabad that are accessible via the highway, and has not reached many rural and outlying areas in the North.

Sustainable Relief is a non-profit organization seeking to support recovery efforts in the largely rural and very remote areas of Northern Pakistan such as the small village of Hung-ri.

Sustainable Relief, working with Umeed Projects, already has a number of volunteers in position to help the recovery efforts. An additional 3 persons are en route to Northern Pakistan to support reconstruction efforts in the village of Hung-ri.
